Coco Gauff has never been able to beat some players on the WTA Tour who are ranked much lower than her.
Gauff is a two-time Grand Slam champion already at 21 years old, having won the US Open in 2023 and the French Open earlier this year.
The American is currently the world number three, with Gauff finishing her season at the WTA Finals in Riyadh, where she failed to defend her title.
Despite still being very young, Gauff’s big breakthrough came at Wimbledon in 2019 when she was just 15 years old.

Tamara Korpatsch: The WTA player who has a winning record against Coco Gauff but has not been in the top 70
There was a lot of attention on Gauff after she reached the fourth round at Wimbledon in 2019 as a 15-year-old.
Gauff continued to show her potential at the US Open, where she reached the third round before losing to Naomi Osaka.

However, Gauff was unable to qualify for her next tournament at the WTA 250 event in Linz, Austria, after she lost to then world number 130 Tamara Korpatsch.
Like Gauff, Korpatsch has been ranked higher since then and won her first WTA title in Romania in 2023, but she has never been ranked inside the world’s top 70, with a career-high ranking of world number 71.
While Gauff is the world number three, Korpatsch still has the bragging rights over the American as they have not played each other since their meeting six years ago.
Although losing in qualifying usually means that your tournament is over, Gauff was able to receive a lucky loser spot in the main draw following a withdrawal.
The then 15-year-old made full use of this lifeline, with Gauff going on to win her first WTA title in very rare circumstances.
