The 2026 Australian Open left tennis fans with more burning questions than when the tournament started.

There were many interesting storylines in both the men’s and women’s singles draws that could shape the rest of the season.

On The Tennis Gazette, we have already put some of these questions to our readers since the Australian Open ended last weekend.

Here are the best responses on our new platform, TalkingPoints Daily, where you can join the conversation today.

Will Carlos Alcaraz win the Calendar Slam in 2026?

If not, which Grand Slam is he going to fail to win?

Will Carlos Alcaraz win the Calendar Slam in 2026?

Carlos Alcaraz’s victory over Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final cemented his place as the best male tennis player on the planet.

Having completed the Career Grand Slam, fans are now wondering whether he can win all four slams in the 2026 season.

“He could easily do it. By far the best player in the world right now, in my opinion. The only thing that would stop him is injuries,” one response said.

Another added: “I think Alcaraz gets the French but can see Sinner taking Wimbledon and the US.”

A third view read: “He 100% could, but the fact that players like Serena and Novak never could shows just how difficult it is to stay that locked in and fit all year round. I do think Sinner will complete his career slam at RG, though.”

“No, not for me, Sinner will have his say at the US Open, I think!” a fan commented.

Are you more or less confident that Novak Djokovic can win his 25th Grand Slam now?

Are you more or less confident that Novak Djokovic can win his 25th Grand Slam now?

Novak Djokovic was not expected to make the Australian Open final, but he did after a surprising victory against Jannik Sinner in the semifinal.

Having come unstuck against Alcaraz in the final, the question now is whether he has missed his best opportunity to win another Slam.

“Far more confident! I really didn’t think he had what it took to beat Alcaraz or Sinner over five sets, given what we have seen in the last two years. But now my mind has been changed. Wimbledon is his next big chance!” one response said.

A reader added: “Has to be less confident, I think this was the best chance he is going to get, given the withdrawals in his draw, but Wimbledon could also give him an opportunity!”

“Less confident. I think Wimbledon will be his best chance now, but I’m not holding out any hope,” a third commented.

“Sadly, less, this was his best chance!” another fan said.

Who will be ranked higher by the end of 2026 – Elena Rybakina or Aryna Sabalenka?

Who will be ranked higher by the end of 2026 – Elena Rybakina or Aryna Sabalenka?

The women’s singles final between Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka has led many to believe that they will have a long-term rivalry.

Tennis fans have now predicted which player will be higher in the world rankings at the end of the 2026 WTA season.

55.58% of readers think it will be the Australian Open champion, Rybakina, whereas 44.42% voted for Sabalenka.

“Elena is playing with such confidence that she could go on to topple Aryna, barring injury. She has a wonderful temperament and a fabulous serve. Really interesting year ahead,” one response read.

“Still Aryna for me, she’ll be back with a bang!” another added.

Where will Coco Gauff be ranked at the end of the 2026 season?

Where will Coco Gauff be ranked at the end of the 2026 season?

Coco Gauff was eliminated from the Australian Open after a disappointing 6-1, 6-2 defeat to Elina Svitolina in the quarterfinal.

Only time will tell whether that setback will have a positive or negative impact on Gauff’s performances (and world ranking) throughout the year.

“Third again, I think. Just can’t see her overtaking Sabalenka or Swiatek,” one response said.

Another added: “Agree with George, third or fourth. I do wonder if Anisimova overtakes her this year.”

“It’s predictable, but world number three, I don’t think she is ready to consistently beat Sabalenka and Swiatek, but I also think she will have too many points for the likes of Anisimova, Rybakina, and Pegula,” a third commented.

“She’s one of the most flawed players to win Grand Slams. Her serve can be downright terrible, and her forehand can be very shaky. But she makes up for it with her defensive skills and her athletic ability,” a fan replied.

Will Alexander Zverev ever win a Grand Slam title?

Has Alexander Zverev just blown his last chance to win a Grand Slam?

Alexander Zverev missed a golden opportunity to win his first Grand Slam at the Australian Open this year.

Zverev lost in five sets to Alcaraz, who was dealing with cramp, in the semifinal, leading many fans to believe that he may never do it.

“I think he will get a couple more chances. Will he take them? Probably not…” one fan said.

“Surely. There is so much scar tissue now. If he can’t beat Alcaraz on one leg, how can he have that belief?” another posted.

“I actually think this was a really encouraging performance, proving that he can compete. He’s not exactly old, I think he’ll get plenty more chances,” one response read.

“Yep! If he can’t do it now in those circumstances, he never will,” a third commented.

“He’s got another final in him for sure, but I don’t fancy him to win it…” another added.
