Novak Djokovic has enjoyed a number of dominant seasons during his illustrious career on the ATP Tour.

Some of the Serb’s best campaigns have come in recent times, such as 2021 and 2023, where, in both years, he managed to claim three Grand Slam titles.

Many fans will point to Djokovic‘s run in 2015 as his greatest ever, in which he tallied his best win rate, with a season record of 82-6.

By his great rival Rafael Nadal‘s account, however, there was a year the 24-time major winner had on tour which was ‘impossible to repeat’.

Novak Djokovic’s season on tour that was ‘impossible to repeat’

After Nadal fell to Djokovic in the 2011 US Open final, the Spaniard said of his conqueror: “This guy is doing unbelievable things.

“Novak, congratulations for everything. What you did this year is probably impossible to repeat, so well done.”

Nadal’s high praise was for one of the best individual seasons any tennis player has ever managed, in which Djokovic achieved world number one status for the first time in his career.

In 2011, the legend clinched 10 titles, including major crowns at the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open.

Djokovic won a then-record five Masters 1000 titles, emerging victorious at the Indian Wells Open, the Miami Open, the Canadian Open, as well as the clay court-held Madrid Open and Italian Open.

He finished the 2011 season with a record of 70 wins and just six losses, which is a win rate of 92%.

Perhaps the most impressive feat Djokovic accomplished that year was his record against Nadal and Roger Federer, the other two best players at the time.

He obtained 10 victories and one loss against his rivals, losing to the Swiss star in the semifinals of Roland Garros.

Djokovic came out on top against Nadal in six finals during the 2011 season, with two of his triumphs coming in the championship matches of Grand Slams.

Against Federer, he won four times, overcoming the Maestro in the semifinals of both the Australian Open and the US Open.
