Serena Williams rarely met a problem she couldn’t solve in tennis, such was her extraordinary career.
Williams claimed 23 Grand Slam singles and 14 doubles titles in her glittering career, as well as reaching the number one ranking on the WTA Tour.
Tennis icon Williams could make a remarkable comeback next season, although that does remain unlikely.
Stunning Olympic success is also among her hugely impressive honors list, with the American boasting four gold medals.

Serena Williams had ‘absolutely no chance’ when training with Grigor Dimitrov
Williams won three gold medals in doubles alongside her sister Venus Williams, with her singles success arriving in London in 2012.
She started the event with a win over Jelena Jankovic, after which she was asked for her thoughts on ATP ace Grigor Dimitrov.
Who is your favorite ATP player right now?
Williams said: “Grigor I think is a wonderful player. I hit with him every now and then, and I hate it because I have absolutely no chance.
“So it’s just like if his coach wants to hit, do you want to hit with Grigor, I literally wanted to say no. One time at Wimbledon I said yeah. He is killing me. My confidence is ruined playing against him.
“He works with Patrick Mouratoglou. I hope I said that all right. I also work with Patrick. So we’re really good friends, yeah.”

What did Serena Williams and Grigor Dimitrov achieve with Patrick Mouratoglou?
The link-up certainly made sense given their shared coach, with Mouratoglou a hugely respected figure in the tennis world.
The Frenchman has also coached the likes of Simona Halep and Holger Rune, and mentored players such as Coco Gauff and Stefanos Tsitsipas.
What is your boldest tennis prediction for 2026?
With Mouratoglou, Dimitrov went from a top 100 player to a top 50 player, while Williams won a huge 10 Grand Slam titles and returned to world number one.
Former world number three Dimitrov, currently ranked 44th on the ATP Tour, has failed to win a Grand Slam title thus far, although he has been seriously hampered by injury in recent times.
