Serena Williams has gone down as one of the all-time greats, not just in tennis but in sports in general.

Williams claimed 23 Grand Slam titles during her remarkable career on the court, and 73 WTA Tour titles in general.

In a huge surprise from the 44-year-old, Williams could return to tennis in 2026, but at this stage it does remain unlikely.

Of course, her stunning feats were not limited to singles tennis, with the American superstar also reaching phenomenal heights in doubles.

Serena Williams once claimed Agnieszka Radwanska had a ‘great chance’ of being world no.1

One memorable run for Williams in that format arrived at the 2012 Olympics, where she claimed the gold medal alongside her sister Venus Williams.

But along with analysing the feat and the win over Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka, she was tasked with discussing fellow WTA player Agnieszka Radwanska.

Asked what she thought of Radwanska and if she was strong enough to become world number one, Williams said: “Yup, she’s a great player. Anybody can be No.1. So she has a great chance.”

Radwanska eventually fell just short of that prediction, with the Polish ace climbing as high as world number two in 2012 and no further.

What did Agnieszka Radwanska achieve on the WTA Tour?

While Radwanska couldn’t quite reach number one in the world rankings, she did enjoy a hugely successful career.

Along with her world number two ranking, the Pole won 20 titles on the WTA Tour, including the 2015 WTA Finals.

That success came against fellow icon Petra Kvitova, while Radwanska went furthest at Grand Slam level with a runner-up spot at Wimbledon in 2012.

There, she lost out to legendary figure Williams, one of 10 meetings between the pair, with the American winning all 10.

Radwanska finished her career with almost 600 wins, and is currently 12th in the all-time WTA Tour career money list.
