Carlos Alcaraz has been the dominant player on the ATP Tour in 2026, but there’s a chance he can become even more so.

There is an argument that men’s tennis has become boring thanks to the dominance of Alcaraz, who now boasts a 12-0 record this season.

But the other side of the debate involves his style and charisma, with tennis quite simply never boring when Alcaraz is on the court.

The ATP number one won’t be paying too much attention to that debate, instead potentially focusing on becoming even better with his serving.

How do you feel about Carlos Alcaraz’s dominance of men’s tennis right now?

Carlos Alcaraz can become even more dominant with a better serve

Alcaraz currently leads the way when it comes to playing under pressure, one of three key statistical categories on the ATP Tour.

He is second only to Jannik Sinner in returning, another key category, with no real urgency to improve in those areas thanks to his impressive figures.

But the third and final category focuses on serving, an area in which Alcaraz is currently ranked in ninth place, as per the ATP stats.

Notably, he’s again second only to Sinner for % second serve points won, and ranks fourth for % service games won.

But his first serve stats definitely suggest room for improvement, with Alcaraz ranked 27th for % first serve and 29th for % first serve points won.

Ranked 55th for average aces per match, they are clearly not a priority for the 22-year-old, who is 44th when it comes to average double faults per match.

Importantly, he’s already dominating men’s tennis despite those shortcomings, with his world number one ranking very much safe thanks to his ruthless displays on court.

It’s also important to note that his serve has definitely improved in recent times, with Alcaraz producing a stunning service display against Arthur Fils in their Doha final.

Who can stop Carlos Alcaraz from winning Indian Wells?

It really is a worry for the rest of the ATP players that Alcaraz can become even better, which is very likely given that he is only 22.

He is already a career Grand Slam champion, winning major titles on all surfaces, recently capturing his 26th at the Qatar Open.

Alcaraz plays Indian Wells next, where a reunion with Sinner is on the cards, with the Italian arguably the only player capable of ending his dominance right now.

After six meetings in the 2025 season, all of which were finals, the two superstars have been kept apart thus far in 2026.

Sinner has been underwhelming this season, but he will undoubtedly pose a threat to Alcaraz should they lock horns at Indian Wells.

Alexander Zverev has proven he can test Alcaraz too, while his fellow veteran Novak Djokovic is another who could cause him trouble in the US.

Indian Wells kicks off the Sunshine Swing early next month, and while Alcaraz could have his challengers, his current momentum and his two previous titles at the tournament suggest he is the strong favorite.

Djokovic is a five-time champion at Indian Wells, joint-level at the top with Roger Federer, while Sinner has never won the hard-court Masters 1000 event.
