The US Open finals have arrived, with Aryna Sabalenka playing Amanda Anisimova and Carlos Alcaraz meeting Jannik Sinner.
Alcaraz can make tennis history when he takes on Sinner, in what is a repeat of this year’s Wimbledon and French Open finals.
The ATP duo have dominated the Grand Slam scene for some time now, with their rivalry now renewed at the US Open.
Alcaraz and Sinner have combined to win each of the last seven Grand Slam titles, along with eight of the last nine.
In contrast, the last five Grand Slam titles on the WTA Tour have each been won by different players, a trend that will be continued if Anisimova beats Sabalenka at the US Open.

WTA Slam final everyone wants hasn’t happened as Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner prepare for rematch
Her fantastic run in New York has included a quarterfinal win over Iga Swiatek, over whom she exacted revenge after a heavy defeat in their 2025 Wimbledon final.
That result incidentally ensured the wait for a Grand Slam final between Swiatek and her fierce rival Sabalenka must now continue.
Their rivalry on the WTA Tour particularly came to the fore in 2024, when they played out a thrilling battle for the year-end number one spot.
That position was clinched right at the death by Sabalenka, who remains world number one, just ahead of Swiatek in second.

But despite that rivalry and their phenomenal record in major tournaments, the duo have remarkably never met in a Grand Slam final.
Sabalenka has reached seven such finals, one more than Swiatek, but their paths have only ever crossed before the title decider.
Even then, the pair have only faced each other at two Grand Slams over the years, meeting in the semifinals of the 2022 US Open and the 2025 French Open.
Who have Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek played in their Grand Slam finals?
Sabalenka and Swiatek have met a huge 13 times on the WTA Tour, eight of which have been won by Swiatek.
Their very first match arrived in the first round of the 2021 WTA Finals, followed by a quarterfinal tie in Doha the following year.

Since then, however, their thrilling rivalry on the WTA Tour has involved only final and semifinal encounters.
But that elusive Grand Slam final has yet to take place, although it is surely only a matter of time for Swiatek and Sabalenka.
| Result | Year | Tournament | Surface | Opponent | Score |

And while fans will be disappointed by no such meeting, the presence of many other players in Grand Slam finals proves just how competitive and entertaining the WTA Tour has been in recent years.
That is in stark contrast to the ATP Tour, where the dominance of the Big Three of Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal has now been continued by Sinner and Alcaraz.
