Alex de Minaur will aim to put his French Open disappointment behind him at the Libema Open, where he begins his grass-court season.
De Minaur is the second seed at the ATP 250 tournament in the Netherlands, which is now underway in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
Immediately followed by the French Open, it helps kick-start the grass-court swing on the ATP Tour, along with another 250 event in Stuttgart.
And De Minaur should be among the players looking to hit the ground running on the surface after winning just one match in the French capital.
He certainly has a fantastic opportunity to do exactly that at the Libema Open, which he enters after a third round Roland Garros exit.
Which player disappointed you the most at the French Open?
There are plenty to choose from…
Alex de Minaur handed fantastic opportunity at the Libema Open
De Minaur lost to Jakub Mensik in Paris, having knocked out Toby Samuel in round one before a second round bye after the withdrawal of Alexander Blockx.
He now has a bye in the opening round of the Libema Open, where he’ll meet the winner of Jaume Munar and qualifier Martin Damm Jr. in round two.
The Australian should not only be confident of winning that match, but also of enjoying a very lengthy stay in the Netherlands.
Most notably concerning the draw, he has avoided two of the main threats – top seed Felix Auger-Aliassime and third seed Daniil Medvedev – until the final.
Before that, he faces a possible quarterfinal versus Ugo Humbert and a potential semifinal against Arthur Rinderknech, which again he should consider as winnable matches.
The draw has certainly worked in the favor of the ATP number six, who may just be quietly confident of claiming a 12th career title this week.

Alex de Minaur has major reason to be excited for the Libema Open
There is indeed another major reason for De Minaur to be somewhat confident of an enjoyable run in the Netherlands.
He boasts 11 ATP titles, two of which have arrived on grass, and importantly one came at the tournament at this exact event in 2024.
| Year | Titles | Tournaments |
| 2026 | 1 | Rotterdam (Indoor/Hard) |
| 2025 | 1 | Washington (Outdoor/Hard) |
| 2024 | 2 | ‘s-Hertogenbosch (Outdoor/Grass) Acapulco (Outdoor/Hard) |
| 2023 | 1 | Acapulco (Outdoor/Hard) |
| 2022 | 1 | Atlanta (Outdoor/Hard) |
| 2021 | 2 | Eastbourne (Outdoor/Grass) Antalya (Outdoor/Hard) |
| 2019 | 3 | Zhuhai (Outdoor/Hard) Atlanta (Outdoor/Hard) Sydney (Outdoor/Hard) |
De Minaur should also be really motivated to get back to his best after his disappointment at the French Open, where he definitely would have been planning for a longer stay.
And while De Minaur shouldn’t feel too bad about the French Open, he will be disappointed to have thrown away a significant lead against Mensik, who beat him 0-6, 6-2, 6-2, 6-3.
