The Australian Open is well and truly underway, with supporters at the Grand Slam coming under plenty of scrutiny.

Jack Draper was booed against Thanasi Kokkinakis in their second round thriller, which the Briton won after four hours and 35 minutes.

Daniil Medvedev was also booed by fans in his Australian Open first round tie with Kasidit Samrej, where he also triumphed.

Raucous atmospheres have been a common theme so far in Melbourne, with supporters only going to get more excited as the competition progresses.

Nick Kyrgios was energised by the crowd despite his defeat to Jacob Fearnley, but not every player has been able to use the fans to their advantage.

Harriet Dart calls for Australian Open crowd policy change after second round exit

One such player who falls into that category is Harriet Dart, with the Briton left frustrated by the Australian Open fans following her exit from the tournament.

As quoted by BBC Sport, the British number four said after her second round loss to 18th seed Donna Vekic: “I felt like I was at a football match.

“Obviously it’s great to have lots of people there watching and everything but I also think there has to be respect towards both players.

“I think a few people were about to be kicked out. I can only really compare it to the Billie Jean King Cup and I don’t even think I’ve had it be like that before.

“I think [the umpire] did as best as she could – maybe there should be a stricter policy in terms of if people are doing something, if they do it more than once they are out, but I don’t make those rules.”

WTA stars inflict Australian Open defeats on Harriet Dart and Jodie Burrage

Dart, who occupies number 112 in the WTA rankings, only made the main draw as a lucky loser after falling in the final round of qualifying.

But she used that situation to great effect in round one, where the 28-year-old Briton beat Croatian Jana Fett.

But the latter’s compatriot Vekic took revenge in round three, with the WTA number 19 and Paris Olympic silver medalist winning 4-6, 6-0, 6-2.

Dart’s compatriot Jodie Burrage also fell in the second round of the Australian Open, losing 6-3, 7-5 to third seed Coco Gauff at Rod Laver Arena.

Fellow Britons Katie Boulter and Emma Raducanu meanwhile take on Veronika Kudermetova and Amanda Anisimova respectively in their round two clashes.
