Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz has set up an Indian Wells showdown with Jannik Sinner – and he’s named him as the best player in world tennis right now.
The player was speaking with the media after thrashing Alexander Zverev 6-3, 6-1 with a stunning display.

Sinner taking on Alcaraz looks like a mouthwatering prospect and it’s clear that the Spaniard is a huge fan of his fellow player.
The Australian Open champion hasn’t lost a match this calendar year and Alcaraz has delivered some high praise in his direction.
Speaking to the media after his win over Zverev: “Honestly, I don’t know how I’m gonna approach the match. He’s the best tennis player in the world right now, without a doubt. I mean, I hear some declarations from Tommy Paul that was funny for me, that ‘he’s absolutely naked right now (smiling).’
“He’s playing unbelievable, no losses this year. I really enjoy watching him play. So it’s going to be a really difficult match. It’s going to be a big challenge for me and see what is my level, you know, facing him.
“I think the last two matches that I have played against him I lost, so I have to adjust a little bit my game and let’s see how it’s gonna be. But for sure it’s gonna be the most difficult match that I’m gonna play this year.”
Sinner taking on Alcaraz could be box office
This is a fantastic prospect in store for tennis fans all over the world and Alcaraz has gone on the charm offensive ahead of taking on Sinner.
In fairness, we don’t think he’s speaking out of turn to make the suggestion that Sinner is the best player in the world right now.
Alcaraz and Sinner are currently two and three in the world respectively and the game tomorrow promises fireworks.
There could be an element of mind games from Alcaraz with his praise of Sinner ahead of their meeting.
