Naturally, the overriding storyline from today’s play is the return of Novak Djokovic, less than a month after he was forced to have surgery on a torn meniscus in his knee.
A true physical marvel, even Carlos Alcaraz was stunned by Djokovic’s powers of recovery, with the Spaniard having started his title defence off with a win yesterday.
Meanwhile, there were also wins for Jannik Sinner, Tommy Paul, Frances Tiafoe and Emma Raducanu, as stars start to dream that a run to the finals could be on the cards.

Key storylines to follow on day two of Wimbledon 2024
Unsurprisingly, one of the key storylines to follow on day two of the 2024 Wimbledon men’s championship is Djokovic’s return.
He will be back with a vengeance after his loss in the final last year, which actually prevented him from completing the calendar slam too. He kickstarts his action in the middle slot on centre court, seeking to afford ample time for the outstanding match of the day.
Andy Murray has been afforded all the time possible in order to be fit enough to challenge Tomas Machac, and we will see how that preparation has fared later tonight.
Arguably one of the greatest players that Great Britain has produced, he deserves a fairytale farewell, but we are none the wiser on Murray’s likelihood to play Wimbledon at this stage.
Elsewhere, defending champion Marketa Vondrousova kicks off her action, and so too does Ons Jabeur, who has reached the final two years on the run, losing both. Jack Draper will also hold much Great British hope, and plays today.
