Coco Gauff will soon undergo her biggest title defence of the season at Roland Garros.

Gauff clinched her second major crown last year at the French Open, beating Aryna Sabalenka in the final to hoist the famous trophy.

How would you now rate Aryna Sabalenka’s chances of winning the French Open on a scale of 1-10?

The American dropped just two sets throughout her 2025 campaign, which also included wins over Madison Keys and Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Gauff has had an up-and-down clay swing this season heading into Roland Garros, but she certainly showed signs of improvement in Rome by making the Italian Open final.

Now, the 22-year-old has been handed a fairly positive draw in Paris.

Coco Gauff’s draw at the upcoming 2026 French Open

Gauff will take on compatriot Taylor Townsend in the opening round of the French Open and will face either Dalma Galfi or a qualifier should she advance.

In round three, Gauff could play Anastasia Potapova or Katie Boulter, followed by Alexandrova or Anna Kalinskaya in the fourth round.

Should she make it to the quarterfinals, Gauff may have to overcome another fellow American, Amanda Anisimova.

Gauff finds herself in the same half of the draw as last year’s runner-up, Sabalenka, and may have to beat the Belarusian once again en route to a second consecutive final.

Is Coco Gauff going back-to-back at Roland Garros with this draw?

Elena Rybakina is the second highest seed at the French Open, on the opposite side of the draw to Sabalenka, and is likely to be Gauff’s final opponent.

Coco Gauff’s results at the French Open over the years

The French Open is the Grand Slam Gauff has had the most joy at throughout her career.

She suffered a second-round exit in her debut campaign at the tournament in 2020, but since then, Gauff has made at least the quarterfinals at Roland Garros.

Gauff reached the final in 2022, but fell to Swiatek, who handed her a heavy 6-1, 6-3 defeat to clinch a second French Open crown.

Following a quarterfinal finish in 2023, Gauff made the semifinals in 2024 before finally capturing the title in 2025.
