Jannik Sinner is showing no signs of slowing down in Cincinnati and has reached his second consecutive quarterfinal at the ATP Masters 1000 event.

The defending champion defeated Adrian Mannarino in the fourth round, 6-4, 7-6, to set up a third career clash with Felix Auger-Aliassime, who he has never beaten.

Following Sinner’s Wimbledon triumph, he has kicked off his North American hard-court swing in convincing fashion, having earned straight-set victories over Daniel Elahi Galan, Gabriel Diallo, and Mannarino.

As he continues his pursuit of back-to-back Cincinnati Open titles, the world number one’s winning streak on his preferred surface now ranks among some of the greats of the game.

Sinner has not lost a match on hard court since last October at the China Open, where he fell to his rival Carlos Alcaraz in the final.

Since then, he has picked up 24 consecutive wins, emerging victorious at the Shanghai Masters, the ATP Finals, and the Australian Open.

His tally ranks seventh since 2000, trailing just behind the ‘big four’ of the previous generation.

Should he go on to win the title in Cincinnati, he will increase his streak to 27, surpassing totals once recorded by Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic.

A successful US Open title defence would see him reach 34 consecutive tour-level hard-court wins.

The longest hard-court winning streak of the Open Era

Federer had the longest hard-court winning streak of the Open Era, tallying 56 victories from February 2005 to February 2006.

After losing in the semifinals of the Australian Open in 2005, the Swiss star went on to win in Rotterdam and Dubai, before securing both the Indian Wells Open and the Miami Open.

To finish the season, he clinched the Cincinnati Open title, the US Open championship, and won in Bangkok.

In 2006, Federer won the Qatar Open in Doha and then hoisted the Australian Open trophy for the second time.

He finally lost at the Dubai Tennis Championships in the final, falling to Nadal in three sets.
