Aryna Sabalenka secured the first successful women’s singles title defence at the US Open since Serena Williams in 2014 with her victory over Amanda Anisimova in the final.
Following near misses at the Australian Open and Roland Garros, Sabalenka defended her crown at Flushing Meadows, besting the American in straight sets to hoist the trophy once again.
The Belarusian also clinched her 100th WTA victory against Anisimova, joining Iga Swiatek in an exclusive club of two to have achieved the feat in a Grand Slam final.
With her triumph, Sabalenka has now increased her major tally to four and is beginning to close in on the totals of some tennis greats.

How Aryna Sabalenka’s major tally compares to tennis legends
The world number one has matched Naomi Osaka in Grand Slam titles, having recorded the same split as the Japanese star, with two Australian Open crowns and two US Open championships.
She has also equalled the tally of Kim Clijsters, and is just one removed from the likes of Maria Sharapova and Martina Hingis.

Had Sabalenka come out on top in the championship matches in Melbourne and Paris this season, she would have caught Iga Swiatek, who has six majors to her name after emerging victorious at Wimbledon earlier this summer.
Still 27 years old, she has plenty of time to add to her collection, and will most likely enter the Australian Open in January as the favourite.

Aryna Sabalenka’s dominance at hard-court Grand Slams
Sabalenka became the third player in the Open era to win all of her first four Grand Slam titles on hard court, following Osaka and Clijsters.
All four of those victories have come within the last three years, and in that time, she has lost just two matches at majors on her preferred surface.
| Year | Australian Open | Roland Garros | Wimbledon | US Open |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2025 | Runner-Up | Runner-Up | Semifinals | Winner |
| 2024 | Winner | Quarterfinals | Absent | Winner |
| 2023 | Winner | Semifinals | Semifinals | Runer-Up |
In 2023, she lost to Coco Gauff in the US Open final, and in 2025, she suffered defeat to Madison Keys in the title bout at the Australian Open.
With just Roland Garros and Wimbledon eluding her, Sabalenka will be determined to complete the Career Grand Slam in the next few years.
