The Australian Open is over, but there’s still plenty more tennis to be played this month!
Elena Rybakina, Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, and Aryna Sabalenka all starred down under.
Rybakina defeated Aryna Sabalenka 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, to clinch the women’s singles title, and Alcaraz beat Djokovic 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5, to win the men’s singles title.
Will Carlos Alcaraz win the Calendar Slam in 2026?
If not, which Grand Slam is he going to fail to win?
They’ll enjoy the fruits of their labor for a while, although it won’t be too long before they return to WTA Tour/ATP Tour action.
But where will we see the quartet return to tennis?
Where and when the 2026 Australian Open finalists will return to tennis
The world number one and Australian Open champion was originally pencilled in to return to tennis at the Rotterdam Open in the Netherlands.
However, in the immediate aftermath of his title win down under, he chose to withdraw from the tournament he won a year ago.

“After consulting with my team, I had to make the difficult decision to withdraw from the ABN, AMRO Open. I need time to recover after the long series in Australia,” said Alcaraz.
“It’s disappointing not to be able to return after winning the title last year. I had a great time in Rotterdam last year and hoped to return soon.
“I wish the fans and organizers a fantastic week!”
Alcaraz is now scheduled to return at the ATP 500 Qatar Open in Doha.
He’ll be hoping to make a deeper run than he did last year, when he lost to Jiri Lehecka in the quarterfinals.

The man he beat in the Australian Open final, Djokovic, is also set to compete in Doha.
He, too, suffered an early exit at the 2025 Qatar Open, losing to Matteo Berrettini in his opening match.
Are you more or less confident that Novak Djokovic can win his 25th Grand Slam now?
It’s not just Alcaraz and Djokovic making their returns in Qatar, though.
Rybakina and Sabalenka, the women’s finalists, will next be seen on court at the WTA 1000 Qatar Open.
In 2025, Sabalenka lost in the second round of the Qatar Open to Russia’s Ekaterina Alexandrova, while Rybakina fell to Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals.
Whether they can improve upon those performances in 2026 remains to be seen.
