The French Open’s special tribute ceremony for Rafael Nadal is less than a month away.
The Spaniard finished his illustrious career in November 2024 following Spain’s exit from the Davis Cup finals.
The 38-year-old bid farewell to the game with 22 Grand Slam championships to his name, 14 of which came at Roland Garros.
Given his monumental achievements at the clay court major, Rafael Nadal is set to be honoured at the French Open this year and it is set to be an emotional occasion.

French Open director Amelie Mauresmo drops hint for Rafael Nadal retirement ceremony
French Open tournament director Amelie Mauresmo watched on as Nadal played the final match of his career at his most successful tournament.
In 2024, the former World number one played Alexander Zverev in the opening round of Roland Garros in what was an extremely tough draw.
Nadal lost 3-6, 6-7, 3-6 to the German and waved goodbye, but at the time nobody knew if it would be his final match at the French Open until his retirement in November last year.
A year later and Nadal will be honoured with a special tribute ceremony at the French Open and its tournament director dropped a hint about what they have planned for Nadal.
“There is not much I can tell you, as you can imagine we want this to be a surprise first of all for Rafa and then for everyone,” Mauresmo told the French Open’s YouTube channel. “But it will be on his image and it will be on May 25th and at the end of the day session.
“We know that he has been so vocal, for the last 20 years, about how Roland Garros is important for him and 14 titles there is quite incredible. He wants this tribute to be there.
“Or maybe lets say the biggest tribute for him to be there and we want to have a special tribute for him because that’s what he deserves with the history between him and the tournament.
“We are doing everything we can and hopefully it will be great and he will feel the love and emotion to spend maybe his last time on the Centre Court on this day.”

French Open director Amelie Mauresmo will be surprised if someone breaks Rafael Nadal tournament record
Nadal’s achievements on clay and at the French Open in particular is one of the greatest examples of sporting dominance.
He claimed 14 titles, smashing Bjorn Borg’s record of six, and lost just four matches at the event throughout his entire career.
Nadal was only ever taken to five sets on just three occasions, and he claimed victory in each of those matches.
His success will be rightly recognised and celebrated by the tournament, and Mauresmo does think his record will be the hardest to break.
“It’s unreal what he did and for someone in the next 20 years or even more than this to do that would be quite a surprise for me,” he added.
“I cannot think about something more challenging that has been done in sport in general or something more incredible.
“Truly we have great champions in many sports I am maybe not aware of, but knowing tennis and knowing the difficulty of winning a slam and a Roland Garros in Paris, it is something really, really special he has been doing for the last 20 years. Probably the next one, I am not sure he is born yet!”
