Serena Williams’ return to singles action at Wimbledon is almost here.

The 44-year-old has received a wildcard at the Championships for both singles and doubles, where she will play alongside her sister, Venus.

How far will Serena Williams and Venus Williams go at Wimbledon?

They’ve won six Wimbledon doubles titles together…

Williams, who initially retired back in 2022, has featured in doubles action since her return to tour-level action, appearing at Queen’s and the Berlin Open ahead of Wimbledon.

With the third major of the season about to get underway, the 23-time Grand Slam champion has arrived at the All England Club.

On her return to Wimbledon, Williams met fellow tennis legend Novak Djokovic, who had some kind words for her before the start of the tournament.

“I told her that whatever she does, I’m always her fan. She’s so inspiring to everyone,” said Djokovic, who is in pursuit of an eighth Wimbledon title, a tally that would tie Roger Federer‘s record.

Both Djokovic and Williams have seven Wimbledon titles to their names, having both won the singles crown in 2015.

Serena Williams’ first-round opponent at Wimbledon

Williams learned her fate at this year’s Wimbledon Championships on Friday, when the draw was made for women’s singles.

In the first round of her campaign, Williams will take on a player 24 years her junior: Australian star Maya Joint.

Joint, aged 20, is currently ranked 53rd in the world, but has had a tough season on the WTA Tour in 2026 so far, with a win-loss record of 2-13.

Should Williams advance past the young player, she could face Alex Eala in the second round.

The most likely third-round opponent for Williams would be defending champion Iga Swiatek.
