A star was born in Miami on Sunday night as Jakub Mensik defied the odds to beat the legendary Novak Djokovic.
After adverse weather conditions delayed the start, it was Mensik who simply blew Djokovic away, winning the game 7-6, 7-6 to claim his first ATP Masters 1000 title.
With Jack Draper winning at Indian Wells, the future looks very bright for professional tennis.
Mensik also beat Taylor Fritz at the Miami Open as well as Draper and Djokovic to get his hands on the prize.
Nick Kyrgios raved about Mensik after the match and the Czech star had some nice words for Djokovic after beating the Serbian star.

The teenager claims that Djokovic was the reason that he started playing tennis in the first place and that doesn’t come as much of a surprise.
In an era where Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were so dominant, Djokovic has done so well to claim the success which he has.
Seemingly, Mensik is under no illusions as to who he views as the greatest player to have existed but he did manage to stop him winning ATP crown number 100 at the weekend.
