Jack Draper was engaged in an intense conversation with Felix Auger-Aliassime and the supervisor in what was a dramatic conclusion to his Cincinnati Open last 16 match.

The British number one faced the Canadian with a chance to reach the quarter-finals at the Masters 1000 event for the first time in his career.

The 21-year-old claimed his second victory over Auger-Aliassime and remained undefeated against the World number 19.

Jack Draper booked his spot in the next round but not without any controversy as dramatic scenes followed the final point of the contest.

What did Jack Draper say to the supervisor at the Cincinnati Open?

On match point, Draper finished with a volley winner, but the controversy began as Auger-Aliassime thought the ball hit the ground after it came off the frame of Draper’s racket.

The 24-year-old argued his case and claimed chair umpire Greg Allensworth made the wrong call and believes Draper knew he didn’t make a successful return.

Auger Aliassime, an Olympic doubles bronze medallist called the supervisor on court and Draper told him he was unsure if he got the ball back and wanted the point replayed.

“If you were to tell me that it hit the floor, I’d play the point again, I would play the point again but I don’t know, that’s why I said about the replay earlier,” Draper told the supervisor.

He turned to Auger-Aliassime and said: “Felix, if he says to me right now that the ball hit the ground and he saw it on the TV, I would play the point again.”

The supervisor was none the wiser and Auger-Aliassime asked umpire Allensworth one more time if he was confident with his decision.

The umpire agreed and the players shook hands as Draper backed up his win over Stefanos Tsitsipas to advance to the Cincinnati Open quarter-finals after winning 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.

Who will Jack Draper play in the Cincinnati Open quarter-finals?

On match point, Draper served out wide and attempted to finish with a volley at the net.

But he did not connect cleanly with the shot and it looped in the air and landed on the net cord before trickling over, giving Auger-Aliassime no chance of retrieving it.

But chair umpire Allensworth claimed the ball came off the frame and successfully made it back over the net and awarded Draper the point, which left Auger-Aliassime very disappointed as Draper advanced.

Draper will now play Denmark’s Holger Rune with a spot in the Cincinnati Open semi-finals on the line. This will be the first meeting between the two players.

Rune defeated Gael Monfils to make the last eight, after the Frenchman stunned Carlos Alcaraz in three sets.
