Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz are enjoying their practice sessions ahead of playing doubles at the Paris Olympic Games.

The dream Spanish duo will go for gold at the prestigious global sports event in what is the 21-year-old’s first Games and likely the last for the 22-time Grand Slam champion.

They have been working hard in training to find their team chemistry on court before the competition begins on Saturday.

Both Alcaraz and Nadal have taken a step towards finding their groove after competing in a practice match on court Philippe Chatrier.

Did Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal play a practice match ahead of the Paris Olympics?

To boost their preparation ahead of playing doubles at the Olympics, Nadal and Alcaraz played a practice set against two of their Spanish Olympic teammates Pablo Carreño Busta and Marcel Granollers.

Granollers is an experienced doubles player and he became just the second man from Spain to become the World number one in doubles in May.

But Nadal and Alcaraz secured a 6-3 win in the practice set played against their colleagues, which bodes well ahead of their opening match against Argentina’s Andrés Molteni and Maximo Gonzalez.

According to Eurosport Spain, Carreño Busta was heard saying: “That’s not worth it, man. When they get like that, it’s not worth it,” referring to how well Nadal and Alcaraz played together.

Is Rafael Nadal carrying an injury at the Paris Olympics?

It emerged that Nadal suffered an injury while preparing to compete at the Paris Olympic Games.

It was reported by Spanish radio station Radioestadio Noche, that the 38-year-old’s coach Carlos Moya said he cancelled his two scheduled practice sessions on Thursday due a thigh issue while practicing on Wednesday.

Moya even went as far as to say that he could guarantee Nadal will compete at his third Olympic Games.

Though there were positive signs given Nadal practiced today, his thigh was strapped, confirming the problem he is dealing with.

Nadal will continue to be monitored ahead of his first doubles match alongside Alcaraz, which is set to take place on Saturday.
