There are positive signs for Carlos Alcaraz ahead of his crucial ATP Finals match against Alexander Zverev.
The Spaniard has been suffering from illness which has affected him at the season-ending championships in Turin.
Alcaraz lost his first match to Casper Ruud, before returning to winning ways against Andrey Rublev on Wednesday.
But as he prepares to face Alexander Zverev, who is on a seven-match winning streak, Alcaraz is back in training and things appear to be going well.
A positive update regarding Carlos Alcaraz’s illness emerges
Carlos Alcaraz was wearing a nasal band to help with his respiratory issues against Rublev at the ATP Finals.
Post-match Alcaraz said his nasal band helped with his breathing, which positively impacted his performance against Rublev.
But on Thursday Sky Sports commentator Laura Robson reported that Alcaraz was training without the nasal band in the morning.
This is a positive sign that the World number three is feeling better than earlier in the week and is gradually returning to full fitness.
This is exactly what he needs on the eve of facing Zverev, who has looked very solid at the ATP Finals so far and is aiming for his third season-ending championship title.

How is Carlos Alcaraz approaching his ATP Finals match against Alexander Zverev?
Alcaraz will face possibly the toughest test of his ATP Finals campaign so far when he takes on Zverev.
This match is made all the more intriguing with a spot in the semi-finals on the line. The pair have a close head-to-head rivalry, which is level at five wins apiece.
Though Alcaraz has won their final two matches, Zverev is currently playing some of his best tennis of the season and he won the Paris Masters before heading to the ATP Finals.
Alcaraz knows the challenge he faces and he is ready for another great battle against the German. ”Obviously, I think I have to play at a great level to be able to win,” he said.
“Tennis is a very mental sport and the way you talk to yourself before matches is very important. Again, when I face the best I have to play at a great level. I have a lot of confidence and that will help me be ready on court.”
