Andy Murray is set to retire from tennis soon, but the three-time Grand Slam winner still has a big summer ahead.

Queen’s, Wimbledon and the Olympics look certain to keep the 37-year-old very busy over the coming months.

The Scot will undoubtedly have grand ambitions to go out on a high, particularly after suffering an early exit at the French Open.

The third major of the year is now rapidly approaching, with Wimbledon organisers planning a tribute to the 2013 and 2016 champion.

It is, however, Queen’s that is up first in the calendar, where Murray has been drawn against a qualifier in the first round.

Andy Murray takes on Tommy Paul ahead of Queen’s

It definitely could have been a lot worse for the veteran, with American duo Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz handed very tricky ties for the London tournament.

Murray has been stepping up his preparations for the grass-court competition, with footage now emerging of the former world number one taking on Tommy Paul in a practice match.

And it was the Scot who emerged victorious, impressively beating the American 6-3. World number 13 Paul incidentally meets Sebastian Baez in his Queen’s opener.

Can Andy Murray win another title this summer?

The players certainly weren’t going full throttle given that it was only a practice match, but Murray can still take plenty of confidence from the experience.

The tennis icon admitted to really struggling with breaking serve following another recent early exit, this time at the Stuttgart Open.

But his serve and short court forehand looked sharp against Paul, the same opponent Murray beat in the final of the ATP Challenger event in Aix-en-Provence.

That victory was Murray’s first since 2019, with the Scottish legend now surely keen to pick up more success before calling it a day.

One final title would be a fitting farewell, with Murray winning 46 singles titles throughout his superb career.

Such success is perhaps most likely to arrive at the 2024 Paris Olympics, with Murray set to represent Great Britain, entering the event through an ITF wildcard.
