Daniil Medvedev continued his poor run of form into the Cincinnati Open, where he suffered a shock early exit.
Medvedev was left frustrated after losing his first match at the Cincinnati Open, another ATP Masters 1000 tournament.
After receiving a bye in round one, Medvedev led Adam Walton before losing 7-6(7-0), 4-6, 1-6 to the Australian.
He was the 12th seed at the ongoing tournament in Cincinnati, but fell victim to an early upset after two hours and 21 minutes.
Aged 29, Medvedev is a 20-time champion on the ATP Tour, but last tasted success on the court back in 2023.

What Daniil Medvedev has been doing since his shock Cincinnati Open exit
Tennis fans think Medvedev needs a break amid his current poor run of form, but the Russian has done the opposite after losing in Cincinnati.
He lost his first match on Sunday, but not long after scheduled a practice with fellow ATP player Jordan Thompson and another hitting partner.

That continued into Wednesday, when the 2021 US Open champion scheduled a practice session with Tomas Machac.
Taking a break clearly isn’t on his agenda right now as the 29-year-old looks to find his feet in time for the US Open.

How will Daniil Medvedev be feeling ahead of the US Open?
Despite his worrying run of form, Medvedev’s history at Flushing Meadows should give him some form of confidence for the next Grand Slam.
He has reached the final in Flushing Meadows on three occasions, winning one of those against Novak Djokovic.

The former world number one has also lost a US Open final to Djokovic, having also been defeated at the same stage by Rafael Nadal.
Medvedev also has three Australian Open final defeats to his name, again losing to Djokovic and Nadal before last year’s near miss against Jannik Sinner.
But the timing of his latest setback will undoubtedly be a worry, with Medvedev recently slipping to 15th in the ATP rankings.
He won just one match at the Canadian Open earlier this month, and suffered a shock first round exit at Wimbledon earlier this summer.
