Carlos Alcaraz is hard at work as he prepares for the North American hard court swing.

The 21-year-old has returned to Spain after reaching the quarter-finals of the Qatar Open, where he lost to Jiri Lehecka.

The Spaniard now has his eye on the first two Masters 1000 events of the year in Indian Wells, where he is the defending champion, and Miami.

Carlos Alcaraz is hoping to hit the ground running in America, and he is trying to find ways to improve his level before those tournaments commence.

What is Carlos Alcaraz working on in training ahead of Indian Wells?

Alcaraz has suffered two crushing defeats in 2025, first to Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open and Lehecka in Qatar.

However, Alcaraz did win the Rotterdam Open title and he is now being out through his paces to put himself in the best position to succeed in North Mexico.

Footage emerged on social media platform X of Alcaraz working on his forehand by hitting shots down the line.

It is reported that the player was seen practicing with different strings, and he aims to gain any extra margins over his rivals.

Wednesday’s training session in Murcia is his last before travelling to Puerto Rico for an exhibition event before heading to the United States.

Carlos Alcaraz and Frances Tiafoe to play Puerto Rico exhibition event

Alcaraz is set to play in his first exhibition event of the season in Puerto Rico, the home of 2016 Olympic champion Monica Puig.

He will compete against Frances Tiafoe on March 2 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot.

The pair played an exhibition against one another in Charlotte, North Carolina, where the American came out on top. Puig took to Instagram to announce the news and express her excitement.

“Tennis legends and my friends Alcaraz and Tiafoe will play against each other in Puerto Rico on March 2,” she posted. “This will be historic!! You can’t miss it!”
