Alexander Bublik praises Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner ‘coolness’

As quoted by Roland Garros, world number 10 Bublik said: “I think the younger guys give more flair to the game. I think they’re cooler, they’re funnier, in a way, because they’re younger.

“I’m like, what, 15 years younger than Roger [Federer]? And I’m like 11 years younger than Rafa [Nadal] and Novak [Djokovic].

“So for me, it was more about like looking up to them, watching them play. And not really being next to them. We’re not friends. We cannot be friends.

“But with Carlos and Jannik, it’s a bit easier with the connection, because I was on the tour when they arrived.

“So it’s more of an easier and friendly relationship than with those guys. So that for me, it’s just, they bring coolness to the game.

“I think it’s cool to see that Carlos is like really a fire, like a funny guy, very loud. He’s stylish. He wears this crazy gear that he has.

“And Jannik is more about the style and elegance and more of an ice approach on the court, at least. Because off the court, I think he’s quite nice. And I guess that’s really cool.

“That’s really cool to be playing in the same era. It’s really cool to face them both and to challenge them sometimes.”

Bublik has yet to face Alcaraz in his ATP career, but he’s played against Sinner eight times, from which he has two wins and six losses.

Alexander Bublik suggests why the Big Three were able to reach a different level

Bublik also discussed the Big Three in more detail, sharing verdicts on legendary figures Djokovic, Nadal and Federer.

He said: “I guess to be playing at the level of Nadal, Federer and Djokovic, you need to be as nearly as an alien as you can get.

“In my understanding, that’s not really possible to be at that level. Because I think that’s too demanding for my understanding.

“But I guess you have to be special. Everything has to be together. You need to really want it. You really need to sacrifice all your life for that.

“As I said, for me, it’s beyond my understanding. But I guess that’s why they’re so great.”

Among their other phenomenal achievements, the iconic trio occupy the top three spots for men’s Grand Slam titles.

Federer and Nadal have both called time on their glittering careers, but Djokovic is still seeking further glory at the age of 38.

While Bublik admits he won’t reach the levels of the legends that have come before him, he has been hugely impressive in the 2026 season so far.

He has a 12-4 win-loss record and clinched a ninth career title in Hong Kong, which should give him plenty of confidence for his Indian Wells opener against either Michael Zheng or Vit Kopriva.
