Carlos Alcaraz was not entirely happy with how his first round match at Wimbledon went.

Alcaraz extended his winning streak to 19 matches on Centre Court at Wimbledon, where he is the two-time defending champion.

However, he did not have it all his own way in his opener, with Alcaraz left confused by Fognini in their five set thriller.

This even caused Alcaraz to have an outburst towards his team that could be heard on television cameras.

What Carlos Alcaraz was heard shouting during the tie-break against Fabio Fognini

Despite leading by a set and a break, Alcaraz found himself down in a second set tie-break against Fognini.

Alcaraz was only able to get 53% of his serves in during this second set, and was also only winning 34% of points against the Fognini return.

This was clearly frustrating Alcaraz and he was heard shouting in annoyance at his performance, particularly highlighting the serve and return.

He said towards his team, “I can’t serve and I can’t return. Shameful.”

Fognini is set to retire later this year, but was able to take the world number two to a deciding set.

In the latter stages of the fourth set, Alcaraz was heard ranting once again and suggested that he thought his opponent was retiring far too early.

He shouted, “He got level to play till he is 50 years old.”

What Fabio Fognini asked Carlos Alcaraz for after the match

Fognini’s family were all present to watch his final match at Wimbledon, including his children who are big fans of Alcaraz.

The Italian had actually revealed ahead of the match that he had banned his eldest son from speaking to Alcaraz.

“Obviously, with these guys, there’s little to think about,” Fognini told AS. “Two days ago, when the draw came out, my son called me and said, ‘Dad, see, you’re playing against Carlitos’. And I said, ‘Yes, do you want to come?’. [He said] ‘Yes, yes, yes, I’m coming, I’m coming’.

“And [my wife] Flavia [Pennetta], also with the little girl, is coming to watch the game. Now, when [my eldest son] saw him, I told him, ‘Don’t say hello to him, because he’s my opponent tomorrow’, and he got angry.”

However, it is unlikely that he will still be angry at him anymore as Fognini asked Alcaraz for his shirt to give to his son, Federico, after the match.
