Carlos Alcaraz is flying high at the US Open once again, with the Spanish star having stormed into the third round.

Martina Navratilova thinks Alcaraz wins the US Open, which he has entered after a Cincinnati Open final win over Jannik Sinner.

Alcaraz won the US Open in 2022, and now faces Luciano Darderi in round three of this year’s tournament.

The ATP number two defeated Reilly Opelka 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 in round one before a 6-1, 6-0, 6-3 second round win over Mattia Bellucci.

Alcaraz has been impressing John McEnroe in recent times, with the Spaniard currently chasing his seventh ATP title of the season.

He has also left another tennis legend impressed, with Andy Roddick praising Alcaraz on his latest Quick Served podcast.

Roddick noted: “Carlos Alcaraz is in cruise control right now. One, the haircut is tight. I am just telling you.

“I saw him yesterday on the way to The Open and it is pretty great. I said hello quickly and go you look mean, he goes ‘yeah, mean and sleeveless’!

“I will tell you, it’s the little things. I am walking from 30 feet away to exit to go to where you get transportation leaving the Open, going to the airport yesterday.

“He is walking in talking to everyone. Everyone who is running the security gates and walking in. He literally has time for every conversation on the way.

“It’s not put on. It’s just the way he is. I wasn’t one to want to small talk when I was going to work, I just wasn’t.

“But the game is better [for it]. Every person who comes across him, no matter what their job is, goes I really like that guy. He just has an easy smile and he’s easy to be around.”

Alcaraz has not only rapidly become a very likeable character, but also one of the greatest tennis players ever.

Aged just 22, he’s already reached world number one and has made six Grand Slam finals, winning five of those.

And worryingly for his rivals on the ATP Tour, it seems very likely that the Spanish superstar will get even better.

He’s been in blistering form at the US Open so far, seeking a second title at the tournament following his final win over Casper Ruud three years ago.

Bellucci was his latest victim in New York, with Alcaraz continuing his ruthless form with a fine service display.

Intriguingly, his run could end with a final reunion with Jannik Sinner, where the prestigious trophy and the world number one ranking would be on the line.
