Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz shared a hilarious exchange at the end of their ATP Finals match.

Zverev claimed a 7-6(5), 6-4 victory to extend his win streak to eight matches dating back to his Paris Masters title win.

The 11th meeting between the pair was one of their most anticipated matchups, and it did not disappoint.

With their rivalry at five wins apiece, Zverev has now drawn ahead by securing his sixth victory against the four-time Grand Slam champion.

What did Alexander Zverev say to Carlos Alcaraz at the end of their ATP Finals match?

Alexander Zverev closed out the victory over Carlos Alcaraz in one-hour and 57 minutes and will prepare for Saturday’s semi-final against Taylor Fritz.

Once again Zverev impressed with the added variety in his game, and former British number one Greg Rusedski liked what he saw with the World number two’s forehand. “Very impressive from Zverev. Forehand and transition game looking world class,” the former US Open runner-up tweeted.

As he shook hands with the Spaniard at the net, the pair shared a jokey exchange which illustrated the respect they have for each other.

“You won too much against me this year!”, Zverev said, as he and Alcaraz laughed and smiled before shaking hands with the chair umpire.

Post-match, Zverev elaborated on his exchange with Alcaraz, who he says he has a great friendship with.

“He beat me too many times this year in important matches, so I am happy I got this one,” the German said.

“But I feel like we have a pretty good rivalry with a great friendship as well so it’s always nice to play against him, except when he beats me!

“But just sharing the court with him, he’s a great guy and I’m looking forward to the next matches with him as well.”

Who is Alexander Zverev’s next opponent?

Zverev is into the semi-finals of the ATP Finals for the first time since he claimed the title in 2021.

He will take on Fritz, who finished runner-up in the Ilie Nastase group behind top seed and home favourite Jannik Sinner.

The pair have played one another four times in 2024, and the American has had the upper hand, winning the last three.

With this in mind, Zverev is ready to try and level his head-to-head with Fritz at six wins apiece. “He beat me too many times this year in important matches, so I’m happy that I got this one,” Zverev said.

“Obviously I feel like we have a pretty good rivalry with a great friendship as well, so it’s always nice to play against him… Just sharing the court with him. He’s a great guy and I’m looking forward to the next matches with him as well.”
