Victoria Mboko has finally ended her losing run after beating a Grand Slam champion.
Mboko won the Canadian Open in August, which was a huge breakout tournament for the teenager.
Big predictions were made for the Canadian after this victory, but Mboko lost in the first round of the US Open.
This winless run continued and Mboko had actually lost four consecutive straight sets matches until she arrived in Tokyo.

Victoria Mboko beats Bianca Andreescu to end losing streak
Originally, Mboko was scheduled to face Japan Open champion Leylah Fernandez in her opening match of the tournament.
However, after Jasmine Paolini withdrew from the tournament in Tokyo, Mboko became a seeded player and the draw was reshuffled.
Despite having a new opponent, Mboko was still playing her compatriot, but this time it was 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu, who has been struggling for form herself after recently returning from injury.
Andreescu gave Mboko some advice after she won the Canadian Open, as she knows what it is like to have such a big breakthrough at such a young age.
Despite looking up to her fellow Canadian, Mboko was able to beat Andreescu, 6-3 6-3, to record her first win in over two months.
The respect both players had for one another was still clear to see after the match, as they both embraced at the net and they are actually still in the doubles draw together.
Victoria Mboko now faces a really tough test at the Tokyo Open
Although she has just beaten a US Open champion, things will not get any easier for Mboko now she is into the second round of the WTA 500 tournament in Tokyo.
Mboko will now play the in-form Eva Lys, who reached the China Open quarterfinals recently and has come through qualifying in Tokyo.
Lys’ latest victory was a very dominant one, as she beat Britain’s Katie Boulter by dropping just three games.
While Lys may be the more in-form of the two players, Mboko does actually have the bragging rights in the head-to-head.
In their only previous meeting, which took place at Roland Garros earlier this year, Mboko actually beat Lys in straight sets.
Mboko will hope to do the same again in the Japanese capital, as she looks to end her 2025 season on a high.
