Maja Chwalinska has shared her disappointment after losing in the first round of Wimbledon.
Chwalinska received a wildcard to play at SW19, which arrived after her dream run to the final of the French Open.
She was beaten by Mirra Andreeva in Paris earlier this month, but was looking to recover by enjoying another lengthy Grand Slam run in London.
But the Pole has just suffered a shock 6-2, 5-7, 2-6 defeat to Mananchaya Sawangkaew in her first match at Wimbledon this year.
Chwalinska did, however, slip and fall awkwardly on match point, which the WTA ace has since discussed with the media.

Maja Chwalinska ‘very disappointed’ after early Wimbledon exit
When asked how disappointed she is and exactly what happened, she said: “Well, I’m definitely very disappointed.
“You know, I was one point from winning a match.
“It’s a Grand Slam, so of course every match is, like, very, very important.
“But, yeah, I’ll get through it.
“It’s tennis, it’s sport, so I will lose many more like this, and I will hopefully win some like that.”
And explaining the ultimately key incident of the match, Chwalinska said: “Well, I fell, and I felt my ankle.
“I wanted to continue, but I felt some… I mean, I didn’t feel comfortable moving, so I wanted to tape it, but, you know, I would lose this point anyway, like it doesn’t matter if I fell or not.
“It definitely didn’t help me later on, but it is what it is.”
It was evidently a huge turning point in the match, but hopefully it proves to be nothing serious for the 24-year-old.

Maja Chwalinska deserves huge praise despite Wimbledon loss
Of course, the overriding feeling concerning Chwalinska right now will be disappointment, but she also deserves huge praise.
Rather than simply retiring hurt after receiving medical attention, the French Open runner-up played on through the pain.
Sharing the motivation behind that decision, she said: “Well, it’s Wimbledon.
“I don’t want to, you know, retire in Wimbledon.
“I knew that later on I got cramps everywhere, so I knew that it’s not, like, anything, like, I don’t take a huge risk on my health, it’s going to be okay.
“But, yeah, I think I would have many regrets if I would retire, so I just wanted to continue.”
She showed superb determination and physical and mental strength after the setback, but was ultimately unable to come out on top.
Chwalinska is also scheduled to play doubles at Wimbledon with Sinja Kraus, but it now seems unlikely that their match with Ann Li and Elisabetta Cocciaretto on Thursday will go ahead.
