Venus Williams is one of the greatest female players of all time and is a very respected figure from the world of tennis.

Williams won seven Grand Slam titles during her career, including five at Wimbledon, although she never got her hands on a French Open title.

The older Williams sister is doing some television work at Roland Garros this year, and it’s great to see her on our screens, chewing the fat about the world of tennis.

Alongside her sister, Serena, Venus also won 14 doubles Grand Slam titles, with the duo dominating the sport in that sense.

With the tournament almost a week old, Venus has now revealed who she desperately wants to see win the men’s title next Sunday.

Who Venus Williams wants to win the French Open

It might not come as a surprise that Venus would like to see Novak Djokovic get his hands on a first Grand Slam title since 2023.

Djokovic is chasing a 25th success at a major tournament, and he completed the game of tennis by winning the gold medal match at the Paris Olympics last August.

Williams said on TNT Sports: “I never got into predictions because you have to play the match. It does not matter what you predict. As a player in the draw, you do not know who is going to be across the net; what matters is that you get there.

“Who knows what will happen! But I would love to see Coco win. On the men’s side, I am a big Djokovic fan. I would love to see him win title 25. We can’t lose him. We need him in the sport for a few more years.

“We have lost Rafa and Federer. We have got to keep him for a little while longer!

Djokovic can’t be discounted from French Open win

Of all the Grand Slam titles that Djokovic has won, the French Open has proved to be the least successful, with the Serb winning just three Roland Garros crowns.

That said, a large number of his entries into the French Open have been during a period where Rafael Nadal dominated, hence his lack of success.

Djokovic will likely have to do things the hard way this time around if he’s to win it too, with Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz likely to be met in the draw.

Still, the great legend of the game cannot be discounted and he will be so determined to win a 25th career Grand Slam that it could give him the edge over some other players.
