Valentin Vacherot’s Masters 1000 winning streak came to an end in the Paris quarterfinals.

The Monegasque star played brilliantly to reach his second consecutive Masters 1000 quarterfinal, but couldn’t reach the last four as he did in Shanghai.

In straight sets, Vacherot lost to Felix Auger-Aliassime, 6-2, 6-2, bringing his debut Paris Masters campaign to a close.

After the match, a surprisingly upbeat Vacherot fulfilled his media duties at the press conference.

During the press conference, the ATP Tour’s newest star was asked whether he intends to change his coaching team before the start of the 2026 season.

Valentin Vacherot says there won’t be ‘that many changes’ to his team before 2026

The 26-year-old plans to keep things relatively consistent between now and the new year.

“No, I don’t think I’ll change much in my team. I already have a full staff,” said Vacherot.

“Some people might actually travel more with me, because maybe I’ll need it more.

“And the tours and the swings might actually last longer, because if you’re playing challengers, you can actually opt for challengers that are not far from home.

“There won’t be that many changes. If it works this way, then why should I change?”

Vacherot also shared how he plans to approach 2026, with very few points to defend for most of the year.

“For next season I have no points to defend. I only have points to take everywhere in the most beautiful tournaments worldwide, so I’ll play as much as I can without any pressure,” he said.

“I’ll try to enjoy as much as I can, just as I did over the last weeks, and I’ll do that in 2026, as well.”

The world number 40 might not be done yet in 2025, however, as he waits to see if the Moselle Open tournament organisers award him a wild card.

“I don’t know yet officially if I received a wildcard for Metz. It depends on this. And then how I feel, I don’t know yet what I’m going to do next week,” said Vacherot.

Several top-30 players, including Auger-Aliassime, and Cameron Norrie, whom Vacherot played this week, are set to compete in Metz.

Before losing to Auger-Aliassime, Vacherot had won 10 consecutive matches at the Masters 1000 level.

His run came to an end in the French capital, however, suffering a heavy defeat to the Canadian.

Despite losing to Auger-Aliassime, Vacherot will debut at a career-high ranking of 30th next week.

Now inside the world’s top 32, the Monegasque could well be seeded at next year’s Australian Open.

That would see Vacherot avoid his fellow seeds until the third round, which would give him a golden opportunity to pick up a first career Grand Slam win.

Vacherot has only ever played one match at a major tournament, qualifying for Roland Garros last year.

Taking on Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Vacherot made a fast start, taking the opening set 6-4, but couldn’t maintain his level.

Davidovich Fokina fought back to pick up the win 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, 7-6.

Only time will tell if Vacherot can win a Grand Slam main draw match for the first time when the 2026 Australian Open begins.

The 2026 Australian Open is scheduled to start on Monday, January 12.
