Lorenzo Musetti has parted ways with his coach, Jose Perlas, days before Wimbledon.
The Italian, currently ranked 15th in the world, hired Perlas at the end of the 2025 season to work alongside his lifelong mentor, Simone Tartarini.
Following his best season on tour last year, Musetti has endured a difficult first half of 2026, having struggled with injury issues.

Draper, Tiafoe, Mensik, Jodar, or someone else?
He was sidelined after Indian Wells, and after returning during the clay swing, the 24-year-old picked up a thigh injury, which has forced him to withdraw from both Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
After splitting with Perlas, Musetti took to social media to announce his decision.

In a post on his Instagram story, Musetti said: “I would like to share that I have decided to end my collaboration with my coach, Jose Perlas.
“I want to sincerely thank Jose for his dedication, hard work, and support throughout the past few months.
“It has been an important chapter in my journey, and I will always be grateful for everything we shared on and off the court.

The silver lining in Lorenzo Musetti’s withdrawal from Wimbledon
After reaching a career-high ranking of fifth in the world earlier this season, Musetti has dropped down a few spots amid injuries.
His withdrawal from Roland Garros saw him fall to 16th, the lowest he has been in the rankings since April 2025.
The drop was due to the fact that Musetti was set to defend 800 ATP points in Paris, having made the semifinals at last year’s edition of the French Open.
While he will be gutted to miss out on Wimbledon this year, Musetti won’t be due for a huge dip in the rankings because of his withdrawal.
He was only defending 10 points in SW19, following his first-round exit last year.
