Tommy Paul has ended the run of Jack Draper at Queen’s – but he’s found time to praise the player after reaching the semi-final.
The number five seed came through in five sets to continue his solid form this week at the Wimbledon warm-up event.
Paul went into the match on the back of a solid win over Alejandro Tabilo and Draper was the first man to take a set off him this week.
It’s the American who prevailed, however, coming through 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 to reach his third semi-final of the year.
After the match, when being interviewed on the court, Paul had some praise for the new Great Britain number one.

Tommy Paul shares what he didn’t enjoy about playing Jack Draper
Paul deserved his win today and perhaps Draper did suffer from a case of after the Lord Mayor’s Show following his win over Carlos Alcaraz.
However, Draper can take a lot of heart from this performance at Queen’s and he will do some damage in the future.
Paul admitted there was one aspect of Draper’s game that he didn’t particularly enjoy coming up against.
He told BBC Sport: “His serve is not fun to deal with, he’s very aggressive and he really just takes you off of your game.
“For me, the key was to try and play my game and I thought I did a pretty good job today. I didn’t feel like the seed out there, however.”
Paul can go all the way at Queen’s and he could be one to watch at Wimbledon
The 27-year-old does still have some time on his side but since turning professional in 2015, he’s struggled at the Grand Slams.
He’s only won two career titles to date and given the quality he possesses – particularly on grass – that’s a little underwhelming.
Today he gave Draper a bit of a lesson, despite the fact that Paul was forced to bounce back after losing the second set.
Paul is currently the world number 13 and he will go into Wimbledon fancying his chances – especially if he can claim a big win at Queen’s this weekend.
Grass is clearly a surface that Paul enjoys playing on and if things click he stands a very good chance of beating his career-best fourth round at SW19 during this year’s event.
