Tommy Paul outlines which player he wants to see win Wimbledon after losing his quarter-final to Carlos Alcaraz.
The American achieved his best result at the All-England Club at the end of what has been the most successful grass court season of his career.
His most challenging match on the surface this year came against the defending champion at SW19, and despite a promising start, he was unable to sustain his advantage.
The 21-year-old went on to secure a 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 victory and keep his chances of a successful title defence alive.
Who does Tommy Paul want to win Wimbledon?
Paul claimed the first set against Alcaraz and started the second with a break of serve, but the Spaniard upped his aggression on the return and clawed his way back into the match.
The 26-year-old’s serve was then broken seven times across the second, third and fourth sets as he lost to the World number three for the third time in his career.
With his Wimbledon campaign now over, Paul wants to see his US compatriot Taylor Fritz win the tournament.
“He is playing Musetti and I just played him two weeks ago, so we will probably talk about that a bit,” the 12th seed said post-match.
“I hope he wins the whole tournament. He is playing awesome. I watched the whole match yesterday against Zverev and I’m excited to see his next match.”

What is Tommy Paul’s record on grass in 2024?
Paul’s 2024 season began an upward trajectory after he returned from injury to start the clay court season.
He reached the Italian Open semi-finals on clay and began the grass court season by reaching the Libema Open quarter-finals.
Paul then stormed to the Queen’s Club title which was the ideal preparation for competing at Wimbledon. He went on a run of 10 successive match wins before suffering defeat to Alcaraz.
In total, Paul won 10 of his 12 grass court matches this year and has claimed 35 of the 52 total matches he has played on the surface in his career. This gives him a winning percentage of 67.31%.
