The American contested a thrilling match against the defending champion on Centre Court as he aimed for a spot in the fourth round at at the All-England Club for the second time in his career.

Tiafoe thrives on the big stage against the biggest names and that was evident with his performance against the three-time Grand Slam champion.

What did Tommy Paul say to Frances Tiafoe before his match with Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon?

Tiafoe did not back down against Alcaraz and played an aggressive game against the former World number one.

He served excellently and showed great touch around the net as he looked to vary his play and at times shorten the points.

During an interview with Tennis Channel Paul outlined how Alcaraz utilises these tactics so effectively. He was unable to watch the match between two of the game’s most exciting players, which prompted Paul to share a joke with his fellow player.

“I mean, from the baseline, it’s hard to say that Sinner is not attacking. But Alcaraz is finding the net more than anyone on tour. He plays so aggressively. He is one of the more fun players to watch,” he said.

“I’m kind of bummed right now that I’m missing his match with Big Foe! I told him I almost hope it rains so I can watch your whole match!”
