After Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz shared 2024’s four Grand Slam titles between them, Tim Henman had his say on who will challenge them for tennis’ biggest championships moving forward.

The World number one claimed the second Grand Slam title of his career when he defeated Taylor Fritz in straight sets to win the US Open.

America was hopeful after Fritz became the first American man since Andy Roddick in 2009 to reach a Grand Slam final.

But their dreams of seeing a male from the United States win the title at Flushing Meadows for the time in 21 years were dashed by Sinner, who produced an imperious performance in New York to claim his second hard court title of the year.

Who does Tim Henman think can challenge Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz at the Grand Slams?

For years many wondered who would be the players to step up and dominate the ATP Tour following the prolonged success of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

That time may now have arrived as 2024 marked the first season that not one of the Big Three claimed a Grand Slam title since 2002. Sinner and Alcaraz currently stand head and shoulders above the rest as the faces of the new generation.

With the 2024 Grand Slam season now at an end, Tim Henman named the five players he thinks can be the biggest threat to Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz at the majors.

“I think they will both go past 10, which is an incredible achievement. Sinner and Alcaraz, they are phenomenal, they are going to win many Grand Slams,” Henman told Sky Sports.

“For me, it’s going to be who is also going to be part of the conversation? We’re looking at could it be Ben Shelton, Tiafoe or Fritz from the Americans? Is it going to be Holger Rune? Is it going to be Jack Draper? I think that’s going to be fascinating to see.”

How many Grand Slam titles do Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have?

Sinner claimed the second Grand Slam of his career and of the season by winning the 2024 US Open.

This comes eight months after winning his first major at the Australian Open, when he came from two sets down to beat Daniil Medvedev in the final.

Alcaraz doubled his Grand Slam tally in 2024 after successfully defending his Wimbledon title and becoming the French Open champion for the first time.

This came after his first Grand Slam win at the 2022 US Open and first Wimbledon title in 2023, which came after outlasting Djokovic sets.
