With Wimbledon done and the grass-court season concluded, attention can now turn to one of the tennis season’s most elusive and prestigious events: the Olympics.
And whilst some are taking it supremely seriously, with it set to almost certainly be Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal’s final time at the games, others with youth on their side are not as bothered, with Ben Shelton and Emma Raducanu opting to snub the event.
This has prompted the ITF to send out an Olympics warning, in a desperate attempt to keep their main stars on board.
However, there are a few who they need not worry about, as they have a real point to prove in this competition.
Whether it be due to their recent underperformance or the need to back up a recent success, there are plenty of reasons why this particular trio will be expected to enjoy success in Paris.
Novak Djokovic is desperate for Olympic glory
The first, and least surprising pick of all time, is Djokovic.
After all, for all the Serbian superstar has won throughout his storied career, Olympic gold is one of the few titles that still eludes him.

First participating in 2008, Beijing saw him claim a Bronze medal, defeated by the eventual gold medalist Nadal.
Then, the following games saw him dumped out by Andy Murray, again in the semi-finals to the eventual winner, but lost in the bronze medal match to Argentina’s Juan Martin del Porto.
He would lose to him again in 2016, but this time suffered a first-round exit.
Time was running out, and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics represented a fine opportunity to finally end his dry spell given the absence of Nadal, Roger Federer and Murray.

However, a shock defeat to Alexander Zverev, again in the semi-finals, ended his hopes.
Now, at 37 years of age, and with arguably just as much competition as he faced back in 2008 and 2012, he will seek to do the impossible and complete his trophy cabinet
Coco Gauff could impress after Wimbledon disappointment
Having underwhelmed when made the new favourite at Wimbledon, Coco Gauff now has plenty to prove as she spearheads a strong American contingent seeking to sweep up at the Olympics.
Yet to play in the games, given she tested positive for COVID just days before her expected attendance in Tokyo, this represents her first chance to add to her legacy at just 20 years old.
Having made the semi-finals at Roland Garros, she has had plenty of time to mull over and try and think of a strategy to overcome Iga Swiatek.
Hopefully, she can find a way and bring back glory for the USA.
Can Alexander Zverev back up his Roland Garros final?
Zverev is an interesting one, given he has actually enjoyed a really impressive 2024.
However, he has just one title to show for it, despite reaching the semi-finals of the Australian Open and the final of the French Open.

Now returning to the surface that brought him such success just a few months ago, he has a real point to prove to back up that run with another strong showing.
Given his form, there are few who would relish a draw against the towering German in Paris this summer.
