The dust is settling on the French Open as Coco Gauff admires the trophy that she’s collected for the first time at Roland Garros.

Gauff overcame the world number one, Aryna Sabalenka, in three sets to get her hands on the silverware for the first time at the event.

With Wimbledon on the agenda next for the players, attention turns to the WTA rankings for the players to see how they’re shaping up after the French Open.

There are plenty of movers and shakers when it comes to the top 10 of the list, with Iga Swiatek discovering a new position on the roster.

Iga Swiatek discovers new position in WTA rankings

The Polish player’s dominant streak of three successive titles at Roland Garros is over as she failed to make it through to the final at the tournament.

Swiatek was beaten in an entertaining semi-final against Sabalenka as her stranglehold on the trophy was relinquished.

In a further setback for Swiatek, she’s now slipped down the rankings to seventh place, which is rather low considering she was the number one from April 2022 to September 2023.

It serves to highlight just how inconsistent the 24-year-old has been in 2025, however, and a run to the semi-final in Paris will hopefully help her restore some confidence.

The players are always striving to get into the top 10 of the rankings, and ahead of Wimbledon, it’s always fascinating to see who sits where.

Sabalenka naturally remains the best player in the world, with Gauff still hot on her heels at number two.

Great Britain doesn’t have a player in the top 10 yet, and in the coming years, the hope will be that Emma Raducanu or Katie Boulter can get in the mix.

As the American contingent, they’re still going strong, and with the USA boasting both winners of the Grand Slam events so far this year, the future is bright when it comes to the women’s game in the United States.
