Tournaments around the world try their very best to attract Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu to make an appearance.
Alcaraz and Raducanu, two former Grand Slam champions, teamed up for the very first time at the new-look US Open mixed doubles event.
Unfortunately for the popular pair (and their many fans…), Alcaraz and Raducanu lost to Jack Draper and Jessica Pegula in their opening match.

Switching their focus to singles, Alcaraz defeated Reilly Opelka, and Raducanu defeated Ena Shibahara in their respective first-round matches.
Looking ahead to the remainder of Alcaraz and Raducanu’s 2025 seasons, the tournaments where they will play after the US Open have now been confirmed.
Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz confirm which tournaments they will play in Asia
Earlier this month, Raducanu was confirmed as an entrant for the Pan Pacific Open WTA 500 event, which is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 20.
Adding another tournament to her schedule, Raducanu has now been announced as a participant at the 2025 China Open WTA 1000 event.
“I’m really excited to come to the China Open this year,” she said in a video for the tournament’s X account.
Raducanu isn’t the only player to have been announced, as two other Grand Slam winners will join her in Beijing.
2025 China Open confirmed entrants
- Emma Raducanu
- Iga Swiatek
- Coco Gauff
- Mirra Andreeva
- Amanda Anisimova
- Wang Xinyu
In more shocking news, Alcaraz has been listed among the entrants for the Tokyo Open ATP 500 tournament.
Last time around, Alcaraz won the title in Beijing, an event played the same week as the tournament in Japan.
| Round | Opponent | Result | Score |
| F | Jannik Sinner | Win | 6-7, 6-4, 7-6 |
| SF | Daniil Medvedev | Win | 7-5, 6-3 |
| QF | Karen Khachanov | Win | 7-5, 6-2 |
| 2R | Tallon Griekspoor | Win | 6-1, 6-2 |
| 1R | Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard | Win | 6-4, 6-4 |
It’s not often you see a player swap events the year after they win the title, but there could be several reasons behind his decision.
Perhaps he wants more match time on courts with the conditions in Tokyo, or maybe the event is simply offering him more money.
In 2024, the majority of the top ten chose to travel to Beijing, although the two events look far more balanced this time around.
| Top seeds | Beijing | Tokyo |
| 1 | Jannik Sinner | Carlos Alcaraz |
| 2 | Alexander Zverev | Taylor Fritz |
| 3 | Alex de Minaur | Jack Draper |
| 4 | Karen Khachanov | Ben Shelton |
| 5 | Lorenzo Musetti | Holger Rune |
| 6 | Daniil Medvedev | Casper Ruud |
| 7 | Andrey Rublev | Frances Tiafoe |
| 8 | Jakub Mensik | Jiri Lehecka |
It remains to be seen who will emerge with the titles, but you certainly won’t want to miss any of the action when the tournaments begin on Monday, September 22.
Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu’s post-US Open form in 2024
Neither Alcaraz nor Raducanu had the US Open they were looking for in 2024, as both players failed to reach the third round, but how did they perform in the remaining tournaments of the year?
Carlos Alcaraz post-US Open 2024
- Laver Cup – Won with Team Europe
- China Open – Won
- Shanghai Masters – Lost in QF
- Six Kings Slam – Lost in F
- Paris Masters – Lost in 3R
- ATP Finals – Lost in RR
- Davis Cup Finals – Lost in QF with Spain
Kicking off his post-US Open campaign with wins at the Laver Cup and China Open, things soon went downhill for Alcaraz.
Struggling to perform at the indoor hard court tournaments, the Spaniard’s 2024 season came to a disappointing end, exiting the ATP Finals at the round robin stage.

Emma Raducanu post-US Open 2024
- Korea Open – Lost in QF
- Billie Jean King Cup Finals – Lost in SF with Great Britain
Raducanu impressed in her two post-US Open tournaments last year, but couldn’t play anymore due to injury.
After Raducanu retired from her quarterfinal match in Korea, she returned to action at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Malaga.
There, Raducanu went unbeaten, winning the three matches she played as Great Britain reached the semifinals, before losing to Slovakia.
Both players will be hoping to perform better this time around, but only time will tell if Alcaraz and Raducanu can finish their 2025 campaigns on a high note.
