Taylor Fritz has started his 2025 season in fantastic fashion, having guided Team USA into the United Cup semi-finals.
Fritz struggled against Leylah Fernandez as the USA met Canada in the group stages, but his nation still managed to emerge victorious after that mixed doubles clash.
The ATP Tour number four also found it difficult in his singles match, with Fritz having issues against Felix Auger-Aliassime.
The USA also beat Croatia to top Group A in Perth, with a semi-final spot secured thanks to a quarter-final win over China.
Fritz won his singles and doubles matches against Croatia, and followed those up with a singles victory against China.

Andy Roddick raises question for Taylor Fritz in 2025
His superb team efforts come after a very busy individual season, where the American boasted a 53-23 win-loss record.
He climbed to a career-high fourth place ranking with two titles won, but his compatriot Andy Roddick still has a question mark over Fritz for 2025.
“The guy is a worker,” he said on the Served with Andy Roddick podcast. “He is a tour rat, and I say that in the best possible way.

“The guy never wants to take weeks off, he just wants to play tennis. He is there every week, he puts the work in.
“I like it, because he expects to be in that US Open final. The way he talks about where he wants to be. He doesn’t shy away from it.
“He goes in there and punches every time. The question is – and I remember the tour finals when he lost to [Jannik] Sinner for the second time – what can he do to change tactics against Jannik Sinner.
“He is not someone who can create the drop shots or the slices or the speed of a Carlos Alcaraz. Taylor is never going to be the best mover in the world, he has improved drastically.
“He is not a [Giovanni Mpetshi] Perricard server. He has a great serve but the second serve against Sinner is going to be dealt with.
“Across the board he has improved in every area, the question is now match-ups. Can I avoid them to win a major?
“Or how do I adjust specifically against Jannik Sinner because I think that’s the worst match-up for Taylor Fritz.”
What is the head-to-head record between Taylor Fritz and Jannik Sinner?
Roddick will know all about the pressure that Fritz is likely to find himself in this season, with the latter currently the highest-ranked American man.
He enjoyed his best-ever Grand Slam run at the 2024 US Open, with that unforgettable venture ending with a final loss to Sinner.

The Italian has proven very difficult for the American in their fine careers so far, although intriguingly it was Fritz who won their first-ever meeting.
Since then, however, Sinner has come back to win four matches in a row, including twice at last year’s ATP Finals.
Given their formidable form, it is highly unlikely that Fritz can avoid the world number one in 2025, so a strategy certainly needs to be developed on how he can overcome Sinner.
