Another thrilling WTA Tour season has reached its conclusion, with the world’s top players now looking towards 2025.
Iga Swiatek won five titles in 2024 as she dominated for some time, with the Pole spending 32 weeks at world number one.
But she lost out on that year-end number one spot to Aryna Sabalenka, with the duo having enjoyed a fascinating battle throughout the season.
Swiatek has been told to improve her serve ahead of 2025, with that improvement and indeed returning to number one certain to be on her list of priorities.
But hard-court specialist Sabalenka will be hard to topple, particularly with the season set to begin with her favoured Australian Open.

The five WTA Tour players with the most aces in 2024
The world number one won the Grand Slam in 2023 and 2024, with superb serving undoubtedly playing a key role in those successes.
In 2024, however, she was behind both Qinwen Zheng and Elena Rybakina in one key area, with the former leading the way for aces in tour-level events.
World number five Zheng hit the most aces during the season with 445, well ahead of second-placed Elena Rybakina (358).
Sabalenka’s tally of 307 aces puts her in third place, with Ekaterina Alexandrova (284) and Paula Badosa (265) completing the top five.
How many aces did Iga Swiatek hit in 2024?
Just like Swiatek, much has been made of the serving struggles of Coco Gauff, who conversely finished 2024 very strongly.
The change of coach from Brad Gilbert to Matt Daly proved significant, with Gauff lifting the WTA Finals trophy in Riyadh.

The American sits joint-sixth in the list for most WTA Tour aces in 2024 with 250, level with Karolina Pliskova.
World number three Gauff is followed by Caroline Garcia (248), Donna Vekic (239) and Naomi Osaka (237).
| Position | Player | WTA ranking | Matches | Aces |
| 1 | Qinwen Zheng | 5 | 68 | 445 |
| 2 | Elena Rybakina | 6 | 53 | 358 |
| 3 | Aryna Sabalenka | 1 | 70 | 307 |
| 4 | Ekaterina Alexandrova | 28 | 50 | 284 |
| 5 | Paula Badosa | 12 | 55 | 265 |
| 6 | Karolina Pliskova | 41 | 36 | 250 |
| 7 | Coco Gauff | 3 | 71 | 250 |
| 8 | Caroline Garcia | 48 | 33 | 248 |
| 9 | Donna Vekic | 19 | 52 | 239 |
| 10 | Naomi Osaka | 60 | 37 | 237 |
And remarkably, despite winning five WTA-level titles, Swiatek is all the way down in 32nd place with 128 aces.
Aces aren’t everything to a good serving game, but the Pole should be desperate to improve her numbers in that area next time out.
