Stan Wawrinka has enjoyed an impressive start to his farewell season on the ATP Tour.

Wawrinka, set to retire at the end of the year, has entered five events so far on his final trip around the tour.

At nearly 41 years of age, the Swiss star is still operating at the highest level, and has clinched six wins in 2026.

Why do you think Stan Wawrinka was never considered to be on the same level as Andy Murray?

Stan Wawrinka surpasses Roger Federer’s record

Aged 40 years and 11 months and two days, Wawrinka is now the second-oldest player ever to be in the ATP top 100.

He trails only Ken Rosewall, who was in the top 100 aged 44 years, 11 months and 13 days back in 1979.

Wawrinka surpassed his legendary compatriot, Roger Federer, who managed the feat at the age of 40 years, 10 months and 26 days.

Wawrinka kicked off his season at the United Cup in Australia, where he picked up his first 2026 win against Arthur Rinderknech.

The three-time Grand Slam champion then entered the Australian Open, where he picked up two victories before falling to Taylor Fritz.
