Jannik Sinner has soared into yet another Grand Slam semi-final after breezing past Alex de Minaur in the Australian Open quarter-finals.
Sinner battled past Holger Rune in the Australian Open fourth round, having previously beaten Nicolas Jarry, Tristan Schoolkate and Marcos Giron.
A tough test awaited Sinner for a spot in the last four in Melbourne in eighth seed De Minaur, but the ATP number one needed just one hour and 48 minutes to win 6-3, 6-2, 6-1.
Carlos Alcaraz couldn’t pick an Australian Open favourite after his quarter-final loss to Novak Djokovic, with the Serbian and Sinner remaining alongside Alexander Zverev and Ben Shelton.
Sinner meets the American in the semi-finals at Rod Laver Arena, with the same venue hosting another highly-anticipated clash between Djokovic and Zverev.

Thanasi Kokkinakis blown away as Jannik Sinner beats Alex de Minaur
As per OptaAce, the Italian now moves to a 20-4 win-loss record at the Australian Open, with his 24 matches the joint-fewest to reach 20 men’s singles wins at the tournament since 2000, level with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
It was a ruthless display that wowed those watching on, including De Minaur’s compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis.
The ATP number 71, who lost to Jack Draper in the second round of the competition, wrote on X: “How good is this dude…”
How exactly did Jannik Sinner beat Alex de Minaur at the Australian Open?
De Minaur certainly had the Australian Open crowd on his side, having been the last remaining Australian at this stage of the tournament.
But that support was nowhere near enough to make it past the Italian, who was admittedly the strong favourite going into the match.

Sinner won his first Grand Slam title at the 2024 Australian Open, with the world number one then doubling his tally at the US Open at the end of the year.
He won a total of eight ATP Tour-level trophies last time out, and such formidable form was on show from minute one against De Minaur.
The Australian can hold his head high after a superb run on home soil, although the world number eight would have perhaps wanted to put up slightly more of a fight on the court, which is of course much easier said than done.
Sinner barely gave his opponent an inch, with an 84% win on his first serve and 81% win on his second serve among his stunning figures from the match.
