Tennis fans have a divided opinion on Naomi Osaka’s decision to hire Patrick Mouratoglou.

The 26-year-old announced on instagram that she had parted ways with former coach Wim Fissette after a four-year partnership.

Naomi Osaka has opted for a fresh perspective following her return to the WTA Tour this season that has yielded little success so far.

Therefore, she has chosen to hire a coach that has a proven track record and the capability to help turn her form around.

What have tennis fans said about Naomi Osaka hiring Patrick Mouratoglou?

Osaka wasted little time finding her new coach after splitting with Fissette. According to news publication Open Court, the four-time Grand Slam champion chose to make Patrick Mouratoglou her new coach.

The Frenchman was most recently in the corner of Holger Rune from February 2024 to July 2024 and the Dane is now being coached by Kenneth Carlsen.

Fans took to social media platform X to issue their response to Osaka’s latest coaching decision and their opinions were split.

User @jayshapansky added: “Smart move. Change was needed. I see her working really well with Patrick,” while @stormzuk posted: “Patrick is actually the best fit for her. He got Serena to be more consistent and play more. That’s exactly what Osaka needs. I can definitely see this working out.”

@thierryAgain expects improvements in Osksa’s game as they wrote: “Oh I know Patrick gonna put that spin on her shots for real, she’s about to cook.”

But some fans were unsure about the move as @RicardoBraun24 asked: “Will this Match up Work?”, while @backhandology_ said: “Shocker is the right word.”
