Novak Djokovic will play Carlos Alcaraz in the 2026 Australian Open men’s singles final.

For the first time since 2024, Djokovic and Alcaraz will contest a major final.

Back then, Alcaraz dominated Djokovic in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, 7-6, to defend his Wimbledon title.

But will he repeat the feat when they play their first Grand Slam final outside of Great Britain?

Tennis fans predict Carlos Alcaraz to beat Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final

59.54% of The Tennis Gazette fans backed Alcaraz to win his first Australian Open title.

“C’mon Carlitos [Carlos Alcaraz], you’ve got this,” said one fan.

“Carlos in straight sets, a dominant win if he is totally fit, or if not, Carlos in four sets,” said another.

“Carlos is 22, eager to etch his place amongst the greats; he must win.

“[Losing to] a 38-year-old past his prime is not a good look if you are number one at 22.”

The 40.46% who voted for Djokovic were also keen to show their support.

“Nole [Novak Djokovic] it’ll be,” said a fan on TalkingPoints.

It’s tough to call, but who has had the better of their rivalry so far?

Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic’s head-to-head record

Djokovic has a slender 5-4 lead in their head-to-head, but crucially beat Alcaraz in Melbourne a year ago.

Only time will tell if he can repeat the feat in 2026…

Who do our tennis experts think will win the 2026 Australian Open men’s singles final?

The fans are backing Alcaraz to win the title, but what about our writers?

“Carlos takes advantage of a physically fragile Novak for me,” said Callum Davies.

“16 years is a big age gap for recovery.

“The heart says Novak, the head says Carlos,” added Peter Lynch.

“Carlos in straights. I think Novak won his final vs Sinner,” said John Verrall.

“I’m giving Alcaraz the edge due to his longer recovery time and age,” suggested Liam Mcmillen.

“However, it is impossible to rule out Novak at this point.

“I think the Spaniard will take it in four sets!”

Only Cameron Greenlees was brave enough to back Djokovic.

“After that performance, I’m picking Novak!” he said.

If our fans and writers are correct, Alcaraz will become the youngest man to win the Career Grand Slam.

It remains to be seen who will emerge victorious, but you certainly won’t want to miss any of the action.

Djokovic will play Alcaraz in the 2026 Australian Open men’s singles final on Sunday, February 1.
