Tennis fans call the Paris Masters ‘unwatchable’ after noticing a change they have made to this year’s event

The Paris Masters have made some big changes to this year’s tournament and not everyone is keen on them.

This has included changing venues, and former champion Daniil Medvedev has given his verdict on the changes the Paris Masters have made.

It is also suggested that the speed of the courts has been altered, and defending champion Alexander Zverev may not be happy with the Paris Masters for this.

However, something that has received a lot of backlash is actually related to the viewers’ experience of watching the Paris Masters this year.

Paris Masters criticised for ‘unwatchable’ camera angle on Centre Court

The first day of the main draw of the Paris Masters at the new home of the Paris La Défense Arena saw many matches being played including the return of Grigor Dimitrov.

However, the camera angle on Centre Court created a big conversation, with many tennis fans critical of how it made the court look and some even called it unwatchable.

In response to a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) about the court, someone wrote, “Centre court match is virtually unwatchable.”

Another social media user echoed the same sentiment after simply writing, “Horrible angle.”

Someone else added, “TV angle is horrible. Hopefully they can improve that next year.”

Other tennis fans on social media wrote in more detail about the viewer experience, and how they found it difficult to track the ball.

“It is driving me nuts. I kept thinking something was wrong with the aspect ratio on my tv. They’ve got to remedy this.”

“These are always weird angles to me makes it difficult to see the pace of the ball as well.”

“Whatever the camera angle or position it makes for a terrible TV viewing experience. It makes it look as if there’s only about two steps between the baseline and the net. Hate it.”

What is the schedule for the Paris Masters this year?

Many tennis fans watching from home are clearly very unhappy about their viewer experience, but it seems unlikely that will change for the rest of this week.

The first round matches are set to continue on day two of the event, as well as some second round matches with the likes of Carlos Alcaraz, Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton all being introduced.

Two-week Masters 1000 events are often criticised, so that is something that the Paris Masters have going for them as one of the only events of this calibre to remain as a one week tournament.

As a result, there will be little time for players to rest and recover in between matches, with players looking to reach the final on Sunday, November 2.

The Paris Masters singles final will take place on Sunday at 3pm local time in Paris.
