Taylor Fritz has already enjoyed a busy year jam-packed with tennis, and with the Olympics now underway as well, his schedule has just got even more busy.
However, as is often the case with most Americans, he will relish this opportunity to perform for his country, and he stands out as one of a few men who have a real chance at silverware.
Not willing to back down from an opportunity to play as much tennis as possible, the 2023 Indian Wells champion has actually enrolled in three different competitions, and has kickstarted his campaign in the best possible way.
Taylor Fritz loved what Team USA did yesterday
Speaking to the USTA’s official website just after his win over Alexander Bublik, finishing off the Kazakhstan star in exactly an hour, the American was unsurprisingly upbeat.
After all, he had brushed aside a tricky opponent with relative ease, and did so with the help of his fellow Olympians from Team USA too.
He even referenced them in his post-match interview, outlining what he hopes to do to repay the favour.
Taylor Fritz claimed: ‘It feels really good to go out and be done for the day. Obviously, we could be stuck here all day with the rain.
‘Initially on the schedule I was going to be the last American to play. It was good news to hear that I was moving to Chatrier. It definitely pumped me up to play a big match on center court and I’m super happy to be through.
‘I loved seeing the guys in the box. It wasn’t too surprising because with all the rain, they’ve got nothing else to do. But it was good to see them support me. If I have the time and if they’re on, I’ll definitely be out there rooting for them too.’

Whilst this marks the start of his singles draw, of which he should be quietly confident of a strong run given he recently reached the quarter-finals at this very stage during Roland Garros, the 26-year-old still has plenty of other stuff on his plate.
After all, he is one of few who are due to play in the singles, men’s and mixed doubles, partnering Coco Gauff for the latter and Tommy Paul in the other.
Forming one-half of two star-studded partnerships, it will be really interesting to see how far he can go across the board, with his pairing in the mixed by far the most likely to succeed.
Especially given the 20-year-old, who is the number two ranked female in the world at singles, also won the French Open ladies’ doubles title this very year too.
However, many Team USA fans were still baffled by the Fritz-Gauff doubles partnership at the Olympics.
Fritz might want to go and support his fellow Olympians, but he will struggle if he keeps winning to find a free moment.
