What Taylor Fritz said to Alexander Zverev after Wimbledon win

This was a huge win for Fritz against the German performer and he will now look to kick on as Wimbledon progresses.

Musetti provides him with a very winable match and he will hope to take a place in the semi-final of a major for the first time.

After the match, Fritz was required to do his mandatory BBC Sport interview and he was asked what was said during the embrace at the net.

He said live on air: “With his knee, he kind of felt that he wasn’t moving well, he was telling me about that and I just wished him all the best.”

Fritz proves that American tennis is on the rise

Not since Andy Roddick won the US Open in 2003 has an American won a male singles title at a Grand Slam and frankly that simply won’t do.

Now, with Fritz and Tommy Paul both in the last eight at Wimbledon, there is a real sense that things can be on the rise in the United States.

Both players will have to go and so something special if they’re to win it this time but it’s feasible now that Fritz reaches the last four.

Both have played some amazing tennis at Wimbledon this year and it’s about time that American players started to compete at the business end of major tournaments.

Fritz showed a touch of class by wishing Zverev the best after beating him and now he will be completely focused on doing more damage to the field at SW19.
