Taylor Fritz has been sharing what he finds really difficult about playing Hubert Hurkacz ahead of their Madrid Open clash.

The American player set up the game with the Polish star by defeating Sebastian Baez in straight sets and now the matches become tougher.

Hurkacz is the world number nine at the moment – although Fritz will fancy his chances with a strong record over the 27-year-old.

Ahead of the game, Fritz has been speaking on what makes the uncompromising Polish player such a difficult opponent on the court.

Well, the American is clearly fired up for this one and he does have a strong record against the 6ft 5in player.

Ahead of the game, he’s now been discussing what he will need to do in order to make sure his strong record stays intact.

He told The Tennis Channel: “It’s, I mean, it’s going to put more importance and serving and returning, when we play each other that’s what it comes down to.

“My goal in matches with him is to focus on my serve and if I can break him great – but it’s tough to break him. I’m confident that when we have the tight points I can make something happen.

“It’s really important to take care of my serve.”

Fritz can claim glory at some point in his career

The American player is one of several players looking to stick the USA back on the map in the world of tennis.

It’s been some years since an American player won a major tournament and Fritz does offer some hope that the run can end at some point.

At major tournaments, Fritz has hardly pulled up any trees, failing to reach a semi-final but reaching the quarters of all of them except for the French Open.

Fritz reached the last eight at the Australian Open earlier this year and now he will want to end the wait to reach the last four of a big one.

With a big serve, Fritz might fancy his chances at Roland Garros and the third round will definitely be a first milestone for the 26-year-old.

Time is on the side of Fritz but he will now hope to add to his seven career titles and start reaching the business end of majors on a more frequent basis.
